U.S. Men’s National Soccer Team Out Of The 2018 World Cup

The world was in shock on Tuesday night when the United States lost their last chance of participating in the 2018 World Cup, losing 2-1 to Trinidad & Tobago. Their devastating loss added to the eight losses of their previous nine games which meant the country will not be represented in next year’s World Cup, a first time since 1986. The U.S. men’s national team’s performance was even described to be the worst in the history of the program. They finished fifth place in the six-team regional competition.
Trinidad & Tobago’s Surprising Win
In the final round of CONCACAF qualifying, Trinidad & Tobago was even considered as the worst team. By just defeating them or simply scoring a tie, the United States could still have gotten the chance to play in Russia next year, which is one of he much-awaited events in the Bitcoin sports betting realm. But Trinidad & Tobago exceeded everyone’s expectations as they outplayed the team that is expected to win. No American fan ever conceived of such reality in which the USMNT will lose to a team that has nothing to play for.
What Went Wrong
After they got down 2-0, the United States got a goal from Christian Pulisic but they couldn’t make it in time to add one more goal. Their loss, added by Panama’s winning goal against Costa Rica gave Panama the third and final direct spot in the group, eliminated Bruce Arena’s team. The head coach takes the blame for choosing the lineup but he is not to be blamed for it because just four days earlier, the same lineup had a very successful win against Panama. Instead of having another 4-0 victory, Arena’s squad did not score in the first half. The USMNT was more on the defense on Tuesday night that Trinidad & Tobago looked like a hungry pack of wolves attacking in the eyes of the audience.
The Aftermath
The USMNT, then, will only act as spectators for next year’s spectacular event. Fans all over the globe will have to accept the fact that there will be no American team to play at 2018 World Cup. This big change in the sports industry might also leave a big impact on the sports betting scene. With the USMNT out of the competition, this might affect the number of Bitcoin soccer bets coming from U.S. players.
