Red Bull Arena

Formerly recognized as Zentralstadion, the Red Bull Arena is a football facility located in Leipzig, Saxony, Germany. It is currently the home stadium for top-tier club RB Leipzig but Leipzig football teams have used the stadium as a home stadium, including VfB Leipzig in the 20th century. During European matches, the stadium is known as the RB Arena as a result of UEFA sponsorship regulations.
At the time of its opening in 1956, Zentralstadion was one of the largest stadiums in Europe being able to accommodate 100,000 spectators. However, the capacity proved to be too much over the years and demanded excessive maintenance costs. In 1997, the city of Leipzig decided to construct a new stadium within the old stadium. The new stadium’s transition happened between 2000 and 2004.
Other than club football, the stadium has hosted games to the 2005 Confederations Cup, the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and the German League Cup final.
