Estadio El Alcoraz

Estadio El Alcoraz

The Estadio El Alcoraz stadium was named after the battle of Alcoraz which took place in the same ground in 1096. It is located in Huesca, next to San Jorge’s hill—an autonomous community that holds one of the smallest province capitals in Spain, hence the small size and capacity of the stadium in the La Liga. Some prominent features include the West Tribuna which was extended with the addition of a southern wing in 2009 and the back of the stand which was also extended to build a new entrance.

The site officially opened in 1972 to host social and sports events locally and internationally, and its home team Sociedad Deportiva Huesca had been playing their home games there since their entry to La Liga. But it was only in 2018 where the team won a promotion to La Liga for the first time.
