Coliseum Alfonso Pérez

The Coliseum Alfonso Pérez is in honor of the former Real Madrid’s football player, Alfonso Pérez. The very ground of the stadium is where Getafe Club de Fútbol experienced the golden age of football in two ascensions to La Liga’s Second Division, a promotion to the Primera Division, a qualification for two Copa Del Rey finals and semifinals, and a quarter-final category in the UEFA Cup.
Before the construction of Coliseum Alfonso Pérez , the previous stadium of Getafe was called Estadio de las Margaritas and was located near the University Residence “Fernando de los Ríos” in the Avenida de las Ciudades. It was demolished in 1996, and Getafe transferred location in 1998. Other notable events aside from La Liga were the 2010 UEFA Women’s Champions League Final and a number of international soccer matches.
