Camp Nou

Camp Nou

Originally planned to be called the Estadi del FC Barcelona, the more popular name Camp Nou was preferred. Camp Nou is the largest stadium in Spain and Europe, and the second largest football stadium in the world. It can hold 99,354 football fans and has a record attendance of 120,000 which happened during the 1985-86 European Cup quarterfinals between FC Barcelona and Juventus.

The stadium is located in Barcelona, Spain, and is the home stadium of FC Barcelona since its completion in 1957. Construction of the stadium began in March 1954 as Barcelona’s previous stadium, Camp de Les Corts, could not accommodate further expansion.

Apart from club football matches, Camp Nou has been used for various purposes, including European Cup/Champions League finals in 1989 and 1999, UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup finals, Inter-Cities Fairs Cup games, UEFA Super Cup final games, the 1982 FIFA World Cup, the 1992 Summer Olympics, and various concerts.
