Augsburg Arena

Augsburg Arena

The Augsburg Arena or the WWK Arena is a football stadium located in Augsburg, the third-largest city in Bavaria. It replaced the old Rosenaustadion since it could not meet the demands of the home team FC Augsburg after they were promoted to the Bundesliga in 2006. Augsburg, as a new arena, now features 1,700 business seats and 520 seats in VIP lodges. Additionally, it is the first climate-neutral football stadium in the world as it features carbon neutrality from six ecological heat pumps; at peak hours of football games, a bio natural gas boiler also supplies the sufficient amount of energy.

Apart from FC Augsburg matches, the stadium was used as the official host venue for the 2010 and 2001 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. During those seasons, it was temporarily renamed as the “FIFA Women’s World Cup Stadium Augsburgā€.
