Abanca-Balaídos

For sponsorship reasons, the Estadio Municipal de Balaídos is now known as the Abanca-Balaídos stadium. As part of the agreement and due to the poor state of the stadium, it will undergo several redevelopment projects in the future. The current four stands, Tribuna, Río (main stand), Gol (west end) and Marcador (east end), will get expansions to allow a much closer view for the spectators. The capacity of the stadium will become 31,000 seats within the next few years.
The all-seater stadium houses the fans and families of its home team, the Real Club Celta de Vigo of the La Liga. The inaugural match in 1982 was played between the host, Celta Vigo, and the Basque team Real Unión. Succeeding that, Abanca-Baladios started hosting other sports events including the 1982 FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
