Everton has competed in the top division for 114 seasons, which is a league record. Formed in 1878, Everton were founding members of The Football League. They are known for their royal blue shirts with white shorts and socks. More than that, Everton is well-known for their rivalry with neighbors Liverpool and the Merseyside derby. The club has been based at Goodison Park, Liverpool, since 1892, after relocating from Anfield.
Everton only missed the top flight of English football four times since The Football League emerged in 1888. The club holds 15 major trophies, including nine League Championship titles, five FA Cup titles, and one UEFA Cup Winners Cup.
The club earned their first League Championship just two seasons after its formation. This was then followed by four League Championship and two FA Cup wins, but later experienced drought, until returning in the 1960s, which saw Everton win two League Championships followed by an FA Cup. Everton also witnessed significant success in the 1980s after winning two League Championships, one FA Cup, and the 1985 European Cup Winners’ Cup. The latest trophy for the club comes by way of the FA Cup, won in 1995.
