Formed in 1890 and previously known as Boscombe St. John’s Institute FC, the club embraced their current name AFC Bournemouth in 1972. Also labeled as The Cherries, the club has played their home games at Dean Court–now known as the Vitality Stadium. AFC Bournemouth’s sport red and black stripes on their kit, partnered with black shorts and socks.
AFC Bournemouth has seen success in the second and third theirs of English football, and two-time runners-up in the fourth tier. They have also won the Football League Trophy, and the Football League Third Division South Cup.
The club spent most of their history bouncing between the third and fourth tier of English football. They saw further success after manager Eddie Howe carried the team to England’s top division in 2015-16.
