Head Coach: Dirk Koetter
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are a professional team based in Tampa, Florida, and compete in the NFL as a part of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The Buccaneers joined the NFL the same time as the Seattle Seahawks in 1976 as expansion teams. The team played their first season in the American Football Conference (AFC) West division as part of the 1976 expansion plan. After the season, the Buccaneers moved conferences with the Seahawks and became a member of the NFC Central division. In 2002, the league went through realignment and the Buc joined the NFC South.
The Buccaneers are the first post-merger expansion team to claim a division title, win a playoff game, and to host and play in a conference championship game. Moreover, the impressive part is that the team did all of that during the 1979 season. After 14 consecutive losing seasons in the 1980s, the franchise were consistent playoff contenders and eventually won their only Super Bowl championship title in 2002.
