Head Coach: Sean Payton
The New Orleans Saints compete in the NFL as part of the National Football Conference (NFC) South division. The team was founded on November 1, 1966, and named in reference to All Saints Day. All home games of the Saints were previously played in Tulane Stadium before moving to the Louisiana Superdome (now recognized as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome).
The Saints started to take off in the late 80s. They finished 12-3 in 1987 and claimed their first-ever winning season and a ticket to the playoffs, but eventually lost to the Vikings. In the 2000 season, the Saints beat defending Super Bowl champion St. Louis Rams to claim their first playoff win.
In the 2009 season, the Saints accomplished a historic season after winning 13 games and qualifying for Super Bowl XLIV and eventually beating the defending AFC champion Indianapolis Colts.
