Head Coach: Andy Reid
The Kansas City Chiefs compete in the NFL as a member club of the American Football Conference (AFC) West division. The team is based in Kansas City, Missouri, and was founded in 1960. They were first introduced as the Dallas Texans as a charter member of the American Football League. In 1963, the team moved to Kansas City and acquired their current name. The Chiefs entered the NFL after the 1970 merger.
The Chiefs have three AFL championship titles, won in 1962, 1966, and 1969 and became the second AFL team to beat an NFL team in an AFL-NFL World Championship Game. The team’s victory on 1970 against the Minnesota Vikings in Super Bowl IV remains the Chiefs’ most notable achievement to date. Further, the Chiefs were the second team to take part in more than one Super Bowl and the first to participate in the championship game in two different decades.
