Based in the Phoenix metropolitan area, The Arizona Cardinals are a professional American football franchise competing in the NFL part of the league’s National Football Conference (NFC) West division. The Cardinals were first established as the Morgan Athletic Club in 1898 and is the oldest continuously run professional football team in the league. The Cardinals host home games at the University of Phoenix Stadium, located in the northwestern suburb of Glendale, Arizona.
After the team’s establishment in 1898, they joined the NFL as a charter member in 1920. The club is one of the two NFL charter member franchises still in operation since the league’s constructing. The Arizona Cardinals has two NFL championships, both won while the franchise was still based in Chicago–in 1925 and in 1947.
Since winning their last championship, the Cardinals went through difficulties and numerous losing seasons. Furthermore, the team currently holds the longest active championship drought of North American sports at 70 straight seasons.
