The Golden State Warriors are based in the San Francisco Bay Area in Oakland, California, and compete in the NBA as part of the league’s Western Conference Pacific Division. They were first known as the Philadelphia Warriors and was established in 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, a founding member of the Basketball Association of America (BAA). The franchise then moved to the Bay Area in 1962 and changed its name to the San Francisco Warriors. In 1971, the franchise moved its geographic moniker to Golden State, California’s state nickname.

Both Wilt Chamberlain and Stephen Curry have been named the NBA’s Most Valuable Player while carrying the Warriors badge, for a total of three MVP titles. The franchise holds the NBA records for the best regular season with 73-9 and most wins in a regular season and postseason combined, with a total of 88 in 2015-16. The Warriors have accumulated a total of 6 championship titles (1947, 1956, 1975, 2015, 2017, 2018), 10 conference titles, and 6 division titles.
