Head Coach: Michael Malone
The Denver Nuggets are based in Denver, Colorado, and compete in the NBA as a unit of the Western Conference Northwest Division. The team was first founded as the Denver Larks in 1967 as a charter franchise of the now-defunct American Basketball Association (ABA). All home matches of the Denver Nuggets are played at the Pepsi Center.
Before starting the first season, the Larks changed their name to Rockets. In 1974, the franchise renamed again to the Nuggets. After the change, the team attended the ABA Championship finals but lost to the New York Nets.
The Nuggets saw the light of the NBA in 1976 following the ABA-NBA merger. They attended the NBA playoffs nine times in the 1980s and ten consecutive NBA seasons from 2004 to 2013. However, the Nuggets are yet to appear in a championship round in the NBA. The Nuggets currently hold 3 division titles in the ABA and 7 division titles in the NBA.
