HornetsHornets

Head Coach: James Borrego

The Charlotte Hornets are based in Charlotte, North Carolina and compete in the NBA as a member of the league’s Eastern Conference Southeast Division. The Hornets hold all home games at the Spectrum Center in Uptown Charlotte. Majority of the team is owned by retired NBA Hall of Fame player Michael Jordan, who acquired controlling interest in the team in 2010.

The first Hornets franchise was approved in 1988 as an expansion team. In 2002, the franchise moved to New Orleans and became the New Orleans Hornets. In 2004, the NBA introduced the Charlotte Bobcats, which was a new expansion team at the time. In 2013, the New Orleans’ franchise declared rebranding that would change its name to the New Orleans Pelicans, ultimately giving back the Hornets name and history back to Charlotte. The Bobcats have officially renamed the Charlotte Hornets for the 2014/15 NBA season.
