Head Coach: Jose Luis Mendilibar
Sociedad Deportiva Eibar is a Spanish club based in Eibar, Gipuzkoa. Founded on November 1940, the club was originally known as Eibar Futbol Club, before renaming to Sociedad Deportiva Eibar (SD Eibar).
The club only joined the La Liga recently after being promoted to the top tier for the first time in 2014 and is considered the smallest club to have played in Spain’s top division. One of the defining characteristics of the club is that it is a fan-owned club, with around 10,000 shareholders across 69 countries.
SD Eibar participated in 26 second division seasons during the 1950s, 1990s, and the early 2000s, with the rest of their history found competing at lower levels. The team sports claret and blue shirts with blue shorts, which is derived from FC Barcelona’s colors. Eibar holds home games at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium with a 7,083-seating capacity.
