Head Coach: Sergio Gonzalez
Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol, or Real Valladolid, lies in the community of Castile and Leon. The club was first introduced in June 1928 from the amalgamation of Real Unión Deportiva de Valladolid and Club Deportivo Español. Valladolid first reached the top level in the 1947/48 campaign, as champions of the second division. One year after that, the team was able to reach the finals of the domestic cup against Bilbao, losing the match 4-1.
After spending some time moving up and down the La Liga and the second division, Real Valladolid was finally promoted back to the top-flight after the 2017/18 season after 4 years of absence. The team was promoted after defeating Sporting Gijón and Numancia in a play-off match.
Real Valladolid hosts home matches at the Estadio Nuevo Jose Zorrilla, which replaced the previous stadium of the same name. Both of the club’s home stadiums are named after a 19th-century poet from the city.
