Getafe Club de Fútbol, or Getafe CF, is a Spanish club based in Getafe. The club was officially founded in 1946, the club was named Club Getafe Deportivo. However, at the end of the 1981/82 season, Getafe was relegated and liquidated.
In September 1976, a new club was formed in the National Sports Council and the Regional Federation of Castille, which was called Peña Madridista Getafe. The club played four seasons in different divisions, until taking the name Club Deportivo Peña Getafe. On July 1982, they joined forces with Club Getafe Promesas. A year after, the present Getafe Club de Fútbol was officially founded on 1983, after going through the general partners assembly. Getafe CF currently fills up one of the 20 spots in the La Liga, and first saw top-flight in 2004/05 campaign.
Getafe CF is has a rivalry against Leganés, adjacent to the city of Getafe. The club also has a friendly rivalry against nearby clubs Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.
