Turn- und Sportgemeinschaft 1899 Hoffenheim e.V., or TSG 1899 Hoffenheim, is a Bundesliga club based in Hoffenheim. Despite being part of the fifth division in 2000, the club made its way to the top tier of the German football league system in 2008.
The modern-day club was organized in 1945, when two teams, Turnverein Hoffenheim and football club Fußballverein Hoffenheim, merged. The early 90s saw the club take part in eight division matches. From there, Hoffenheim steadily developed and took part in the Verbandsliga Nordbaden in 1996. In 2006, Hoffenheim first saw the light of professional football. The team’s performance dramatically improved and promptly advanced to the Bundesliga two seasons after. During the club’s 2017/18 campaign, they finished third and qualified for the Champions League Group stage for the first time in history, making the town of Hoffenheim the smallest to ever take part in the UEFA Champions League.
Hoffenheim wears all blue home kits and all white away kits, while their third kits show a mix of orange shirts and socks, and black shorts.
