Head Coach: Lucien Favre
Ballspielverein Borussia 09 e.V. Dortmund, generally known as Borussia Dortmund, or BVB, is a German sports club based in Dortmund, North Rhine-Westphalia. It was founded in December 1909 by a group of men unsatisfied with a team who played under the cruel eyes of the local parish priest. Dortmund has played their home games at Westfalenstadion since the stadium’s completion in 1974. The club wears black and yellow kits, giving the club its nickname die Schwarzgelben. Dortmund is rivals with neighboring club Schalke 04, known as the Revierderby.
Borussia Dortmund is a part of a membership-based sports club and the second largest sports club by membership in the country. Dortmund is part of the top flight Bundesliga league and is one of the most successful clubs in German football history.
Among the achievements of the club include eight German championships, one UEFA Champions League, one UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup, one Intercontinental Cup, five DFL-Supercups, and four DFB-Pokals. Dortmund’s Cup Winner’s Cup win in 1966 made them the first German club to win a European title.
